The outline

Jumping between headings in a long note.

The outline is a list of the note's headings along its right edge, for moving quickly through a long document.

Using it#

  • Click a heading and the text scrolls there, with the heading briefly highlighted.
  • The section you are currently reading is marked automatically.
  • The list updates itself as you write.

Showing and hiding#

The outline button in the top bar hides or shows it. Your choice is remembered.

Screen width#

The outline is given its own space so it never sits on top of the text column. On narrower screens (below roughly 1180 pixels) it hides itself and its button disappears with it.

What goes into it#

Blocks from Heading 1 through Heading 4 appear in the outline. If yours is empty, the note has no headings yet — add some to break the text into sections.
