The sidebar, tab bar, top bar, and editor — what every part of the screen is for.

The Flints window has four parts. Here is what each one does.

Your main navigation.

Notification bell — product news and system messages.
Search button — opens quick search (Ctrl + K works too).
List / Map — switches between the note list and the knowledge map.
New note and Folder — create things.
Breadcrumb — shows which folder you are currently inside.
Note list — your folders and notes. Click a folder to collapse or expand it.
Account chip at the bottom — Settings, Activity, Trash, Log out, and more.

Hide the sidebar with the panel button at the top.

The tab bar#

Tabs across the top, like a browser. Several notes can be open at once.

Picking a note in the sidebar opens it in a new tab.
If that note is already open, no second tab appears — you are taken to the existing one.
The + button opens an empty tab.
Hover a tab and an × appears to close it.

Tabs survive closing and reopening the browser.

Next to them, the home button returns to the start screen and the map button opens the knowledge map.

Information about the open note, plus the actions that apply to it:

On the left — the note title and its created and updated dates.
On the right — the Saved indicator (Flints saves automatically), then Outline, Flow mode, Share, Export, Pin, and Delete.

The main area in the middle.

At the top you can add a cover image.
Then the title.
Then the body, which is made of blocks.
Hover beside any block and a + and a ⠿ appear: the first inserts a new block, and the second can be dragged to move the block or clicked to open its menu.
Below the body — Outgoing links, Backlinks, and the Connection map.
Along the right edge — the Outline, for jumping between headings (it hides itself automatically on narrower screens).
